Contests

Most local contests will be an all day event. We will provide food, snacks and water for the cadets. We ask parents to volunteer to help setup the tent, serve the food and help with whatever the cadets might need. Most contests have a preliminary and a finals round, so if our cadets make it to finals, they will be marching twice on contest day (so changes in and out of costumes a few times). Those are long but fun days! If you are going to hang out at camp during the day, be sure to bring a lawn chair!

An official itinerary from Mr Mackey will be provided soon, but here is a rundown of what he is able to share for the St Louis trip:
-
Leave Thursday morning (approx 7AM)
-
Perform Friday at 3:45PM (warmup at 2:40PM - will arrive at the stadium at 1:45PM)
-
Finals are Saturday night - if we make it to the finals, then we will perform. If not, the kids will still stay and watch the finals as there are some amazing bands. So either way, we will be there for the finals. We will leave right after finals (around 11PMish) and drive all night to get home early Sunday morning.
-
Hotel is the Hampton Inn in Downtown St Louis (I googled it and I believe the address is 333 Washington Ave)
-
12 chaperones confirmed and have assigned rooms - if you are still interested in being a chaperone and you haven't let Mr Mackey know yet, please contact him to see if there is any room based on the hotel assignments, etc.
Etiquette

Below are a few rules of etiquette for contests and concerts. We want to make certain we give our band and their competitors the respect they deserve.
-
Do not talk during performances
-
Remember to applaud and recognize the hard work and skill of the visiting or competing bands.
-
For marching competitions, get to your seats early before the performance you are wanting to watch. You will not be allowed to enter or exit the stands while a band is performing.
-
For concerts, silence all electronics and please refrain from entering or exiting your seat during a performance (if you need to step out or arrive late in the middle of a concert, please try to do it in between songs).
